LINE Notify has closed: what to use now
LINE Notify stopped on 31 March 2025. The replacement is a LINE Official Account with the Messaging API. How to move your alerts, what the free quota covers and a short code example.
Key takeaways
- LINE Notify ended on 31 March 2025. Tokens and the notify API no longer work.
- LINE's recommended replacement is the Messaging API with a LINE Official Account, sending push messages to a person or a group.
- Alerts now count toward your OA plan, once per person who receives them: the Free plan in Thailand includes 300 messages a month (as of October 2026).
- For booking and shop alerts with no code at all, a ready-made tool such as Tellfox sends them for you.
LINE Notify was the easy way to get a message in LINE when something happened: a new order, a server error, a form submission. One token, one HTTP call, free. LINE closed it, and many scripts and small systems in Thailand went quiet. If you are searching “line notify ยกเลิก”, this is what happened and what to use instead.
When LINE Notify closed
According to LINE’s closing notice, LINE Notify was discontinued on 31 March 2025. The notice recommends the Messaging API, through which you send messages from a LINE Official Account, with a set number of free messages each month.
So the alerts don’t come from “LINE Notify” any more. They come from your own LINE Official Account, which also means your brand name and picture are on them.
What to use now: Messaging API push messages
The replacement has the same idea with three more steps:
- Create a LINE Official Account and enable the Messaging API for it in the LINE Developers Console.
- Issue a channel access token (Messaging API tab). It replaces your old Notify token; keep it secret on the server.
- Choose who receives the alerts:
- A person: they add the OA as a friend; your webhook receives their user ID in the
followevent. - A group: allow the OA to join group chats, invite it to the group; your webhook receives the group ID in the
joinevent.
- A person: they add the OA as a friend; your webhook receives their user ID in the
Then your system sends a push message to that ID. We cover webhooks, signatures and message types in detail in our LINE Messaging API guide.
What it costs (Thailand, as of October 2026)
LINE Notify was free. Push messages count toward your LINE Official Account plan. From LINE for Business Thailand and LINE’s pricing rules, checked 29 October 2026:
- Free plan: 300 messages a month, no extra messages.
- Basic: ฿1,280 a month for 15,000 messages, extra ฿0.10 each. Pro: ฿1,780 for 35,000, extra ฿0.06 each. Prices exclude 7% VAT.
- A message counts once per recipient. An alert to a group of five uses five messages. On the Free plan that is about 60 alerts a month to that group; when the quota runs out, sends fail until next month.
For a handful of alerts a day to one or two people, the Free plan is usually enough. A busy group chat will need Basic, or fewer and better-grouped alerts (one summary every hour instead of one message per order).
A small example
With the official @line/bot-sdk version 11 (Node.js 22 or later). First, find the group ID: put this webhook online, set its URL in the Developers Console and invite the OA to the group.
// webhook.mjs: logs the group ID when the OA is invited to a group
import express from 'express';
import { middleware } from '@line/bot-sdk';
const app = express();
app.post('/webhook', middleware({ channelSecret: process.env.LINE_CHANNEL_SECRET }), (req, res) => {
for (const event of req.body.events) {
if (event.type === 'join' && event.source.type === 'group') {
console.log('Group ID:', event.source.groupId);
}
}
res.sendStatus(200);
});
app.listen(3000);
Then, wherever you used to call LINE Notify:
// notify.mjs
import { randomUUID } from 'node:crypto';
import { LineBotClient } from '@line/bot-sdk';
const client = LineBotClient.fromChannelAccessToken({
channelAccessToken: process.env.LINE_CHANNEL_ACCESS_TOKEN,
});
// retryKey: pass the same value when you retry the same alert, so LINE sends it only once.
export async function notify(text, retryKey = randomUUID()) {
await client.pushMessage(
{ to: process.env.LINE_GROUP_ID, messages: [{ type: 'text', text }] },
retryKey,
);
}
// Elsewhere in your system:
// await notify('New order #1042: 2 items, ฿890');
The to field takes a user ID or a group ID. Alerts can also be Flex Messages with a button that opens the order in your back office.
Shop alerts with no code
If the alerts you need are about bookings, customers and payments for a small shop or clinic, you may not need any code. Tellfox is a ready-made booking and CRM tool on LINE that sends these messages for you.
For alerts from your own systems, such as an ERP, a website or a warehouse script, the Messaging API route above is the way, and connecting it to customer data has its own rules: read connecting LINE to your CRM. Frequently asked questions
When did LINE Notify close?
LINE discontinued LINE Notify on 31 March 2025. Its closing notice recommends the Messaging API through a LINE Official Account instead.
Is there a free replacement for LINE Notify?
The Messaging API has a free monthly quota through the LINE Official Account Free plan: 300 messages a month in Thailand as of October 2026. Each person who receives a message counts, so a group of five uses five messages per alert.
Can I still send alerts to a LINE group?
Yes. Allow your Official Account to join groups, invite it to the group, read the group ID from the join event on your webhook and push messages to that ID.
Do I need a developer to replace LINE Notify?
For alerts from your own scripts or systems, someone has to change the code to call the Messaging API. If you only need booking or shop notifications, a ready-made LINE tool can send them without any code.
